Singapore’s Peperoni Pizzeria brings its mouthwatering pizzas to the Philippines

Imagine yourself biting into a thin-crust pizza, oozing with all kinds of cheese, meat, greens or any other topping that you like. Doesn’t that instantly make you feel better?


In any survey around the world, pizza always appears on the list of favorite comfort food. In the Philippines, pizzas have become a staple in parties and even during those I-want-to-be-by-myself times at home.


No wonder, many people just can’t get enough of it. Fortunately for pizza lovers in Quezon City, a second branch of Peperoni Pizzeria is ready to serve you with rustic Italian goodness, with its signature wood-fire brick oven baked pizzas.


Casual dining experience

This pizzeria is a franchise from Singapore, started by the Les Amis Group. Peperoni Pizzeria provides a casual, laid-back dining experience, which is why it opted to open in a quiet neighborhood as opposed to Singapore’s busy streets. To date, there are seven branches in Singapore, with the first opening in 2004. The chain is starting to grow internationally, with one opening recently in Myanmar.


And now, it has come to Philippine shores. Andrew Chan, merchandising director of CMG Retail Inc., decided to expand business (outside retail) and explore the food and beverage industry by franchising and bringing Peperoni Pizzeria here. The first branch in the country opened in Uptown Mall in Bonifacio Global City last December 2015, while the second branch opened in UP Town Center in Quezon City in September 2016.


Although both are located in commercial centers, both branches exude the casual vibe and same style of interior as the branches in Singapore. Chan confessed that prior to franchising the brand, he worked in Singapore for a while and frequented this pizza place. Incidentally, an opportunity to franchise came knocking on his door in 2013. Even though he had qualms at first, since he had no experience in handling an F&B business, he was eventually enticed to put his hands in it as he learned more about the restaurant.

So many pizzas to choose from

For starters, Chan recommends the Fungi Portobello con Pollo. Savor the rich taste of deep-fried Portobello mushrooms with chicken strips and greens that are cooked to perfection with red wine sauce. It can surely whet your appetite and make you look forward to what is coming next—pizza!


This is where things get to be difficult since all its pizza offerings look mouthwatering with its generous toppings. Whether you want something classic or gourmet, you’ll find it here. Try the Bacon Miele if you just can’t get enough of bacon. The perfect combination of the creamy goodness of cheese and the sweet, smoky flavor of bacon makes this a favorite. If you want something gourmet, opt for the Prosciutto Cruto di Parma, which is topped with Parma ham and arugula. The bitter taste of arugula blends perfectly with the fresh tomato sauce and chewy mozzarella. The Diavola (pepperoni), on the other hand, is a classic that diners all over the world enjoy.


The pizzas come in different sizes: nine, 12, and 21 inches. You can even watch as the staff makes your order, kneading dough, putting toppings and cooking your pizza in the brick oven.

Generous servings of pasta

For pasta cravings, Chan recommends the Carbonara and Aglio Olio e Peperoncino. Peperoni Pizzeria’s Carbonara is creamy and rich with the strong smoky flavor of bacon, and the restaurant is generous when it comes to bacon. The Aglio Olio is perfect for those who like their pasta extra spicy and garlicky.


After enjoying these filling dishes, the perfect way to cap your dinner is to indulge in desserts. The star of the dessert menu is the Tortino al Cioccolato, a molten chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream, strawberry and walnuts. Another must-try is the Tiramisu, a moist cake with the warming hint of rum.


Everything on the menu is just so easy to love. As its tagline says, “All we knead is love.” This may be true because a taste of Peperoni Pizzeria’s dishes is simply not enough. One bite and you will want to come back for more.


Peperoni Pizzeria branches are located at the ground floor, UP Town Center Phase 2, Diliman, Quezon City, and at the third floor, Uptown Mall, 36th St. corner 9th Ave., Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
